The Westminster Foundation for Democracy, within the framework of the EU-funded Media Dialogue project, conducted an analysis of Kyrgyz legislation on the right to information. The analysis was carried out by international expert Toby Mendel with the support of Nargiza Abdraimova, Managing Partner of DE URE consult Law Firm.
The focus of analysis is on the Law of the KR "On access to information held by public bodies and bodies of local self-government" , Law of the KR "On guarantees and freedom of access to information", and other related laws.
The analysis contains a set of recommendations for making appropriate amendments to the current legislation on access to information, which would improve it in the long term.
The analysis was published on the Westminster Foundation for Democracy website. In order to familiarize the public with the main provisions of the analysis, Nargiza Abdraimova held an online presentation on December 14, 2020.
The participants of the presentation positively assessed the results of the research, noting that such a comprehensive analysis of the legislation on access to information is being conducted in Kyrgyzstan for the first time in a long time.
